BQ25758: Bypass mode OCP

Please help to check the BQ25758 OCP setting when work on bypass mode.

Could the input OCP current be controlled over 5A via REG0x06_Input_Current_DPM_Limit ?

My understanding is that the IOUT_REG is allowed to be set over 5A. but the system still only operate max 5A when bypass mode.

It's limitation for BYPASS_OCP

Hi,

The IBYPASS_OCP value is fixed for bypass mode. The input OCP current can be controlled by REG0x06_Input_Current_DPM_Limit, but this setting will not change anything while the device is in bypass mode. The output OCP current can be controlled by REG0x02_Output_Current_Limit, but this setting will only take precedence when the setting is lower than IBYPASS_OCP. The device will only allow 5 A current in bypass mode before tripping the IBYPASS_OCP and entering HIZ mode.

Allow me to make sure. if the system works on bypass mode. Is the max application 5A? even the REG0x02_Output_Current_Limit set over 5A

Hi William,

I would like to apologize for my incorrect earlier response. IBYPASS_OCP rises and falls with Iout_reg. IBYPASS_OCP is not fixed. Use REG0x02_OUTPUT_CURRENT_LIMIT to set the maximum output current in both switching and bypass mode.
