BQ4050: Why is the CHG signal ON first when ASCD Release?

Part Number: BQ4050

Tool/software:

We are testing ASCD by applying random voltage to both ends of the Shunt to create conditions that make it look like a current is flowing.
When the Protection was activated, all the CHG and DSG signals became LOW and the FET was turned off. After that, when the protection Release was performed by adjusting the voltage at both ends of the shunt, the CHG signal returned immediately. I would like to inquire whether it is normal operation.

Since a random voltage is applied to both ends of the shunt, it will be recognized as a current flowing under Release conditions. Is it possible that the CHG signal came back right away because current was flowing?

  • Hi Kim,

After the protection has been released, can you describe what current is being seen across the sense resistor? Is the current greater than the Charge Current threshold? If so, how long is this current apparent for?
