TLV62569: Will nearby strong magnet affect converter operation?

Part Number: TLV62569

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

I am using the TLV62569 in my design, and there will be a strong permanent magnet placed near the module due to mechanical constraints.

I have few questions:

1.Will the external magnetic field affect the inductor and cause abnormal converter behavior?

2. If yes, how can I determine the safe minimum distance between the magnet and the inductor ?

Thanks for your support!

Best regards,
Tom

  • Hello Tom,

What application are we talking about?

Do you have a layout to share?

    Thanks,

    Febin

  • Hi Febin,

    Thank you for your reply.

The application is a keyboard that uses magnets for attachment. I can provide you with the schematic, layout, and specifications of the strong magnets. However, due to the sensitivity of the information, is there a way I can share it with you privately?

    Thanks!

  • Hello Tom,

In my opinion, having a strong magnet close to the inductor will be a problem. Since this is not a typical use-case, we do not specify any safety distance and this is also not a tested scenario. I would suggest to keep it as far as possible from the inductor.

Please share your email ID for further discussion.

    Thanks,

    Febin
