BQ34Z100-R2: Improving accuracy after power reset / first startup

Part Number: BQ34Z100-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100

Tool/software:

Hi,

After flashing the golden image to the BQ34Z100, is it necessary to fully discharge and then recharge the battery in order to improve the accuracy of the SoC measurement?
Or is discharging alone sufficient?
If so, to what level should it be discharged? Does it need to reach 100% DoD?

What level of error can be expected in the SoC readings after flashing the golden image and no discharge/charge ?

Best regards!
MJ

  • Hi Mj,

If the gauge is configured perfectly for the application, gauging will be accurate after 2 ocv measurements.

As more cycles are run on the gauge, the gauge will update the Ra tables, Qmax value, FCC, remcap, etc. If the initial value for these registers is incorrect, the gauge will begin to correct this, resulting in more accurate gauging.

    Regards,

    Diego
