BQ25758: Inductor dcr

Part Number: BQ25758

Tool/software:

For our applications we would like to use the BQ25758 at 30 to 50A

It is however difficult to find high current rated inductors that meet the minimum dcr the datasheet reccomends.

What would happen if the dcr is too low and would placing a resistor in series help to minimise the issues?

  • Hi,

The BQ25758 should not be used with more than 20 A. If higher current applications are necessary, we recommend using multiple ICs in parallel.

With regard to the DCR, The BQ25758 can detect the DCR of the inductor. This information is used during operation. If the DCR is too low, the device may not function properly. I think a series resistor would help minimize the issue, but there should be better options for lower current rated inductors.

    Best regards,
    Michael
