UCC15241-Q1: Difference against UCC14241-Q1?

Part Number: UCC15241-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC14241-Q1,

Tool/software:

Hi team,

We are considering replacing from UCC14241-Q1 to UCC15241-Q1 for more themmal shutdown margin. Could you answer below quretions related both device differences?

  • Why do they have different power capability? What is difference in aspect of internal component or test parameters?
  • They have different thermal shutdown, why?
  • Could we replace from UCC14241-Q1 to UCC15241-Q1 without changing external component?
  •  Is there any cara about to use UCC15241-Q1 replaced from UCC14241-Q1?

Regards,
Ochi

  • Ochi:

    • Why do they have different power capability? What is difference in aspect of internal component or test parameters?
      • Typical TSHUT is 150C vs 160C which means that if both ICs are operating below their respective thermal shutdown, the power dissipations, efficiency will be the same. As output power is increased, theUCC14241 will shutdown at 150C compared to the UCC15241 which will continue to operate up to 160C. The additional 10C thermal capability, translates to additional ~500mW max power capability.
    • They have different thermal shutdown, why?
      • see previous answer
    • Could we replace from UCC14241-Q1 to UCC15241-Q1 without changing external component?
      • Yes, both are pin-to-pin compatible, drop in replacement of each other.
    •  Is there any cara about to use UCC15241-Q1 replaced from UCC14241-Q1?

  • HI Steve,

Thank you so much.It is really clear.
