Hello,

We are currently developing a product that will use the AM263P4 microcontroller.

Due to its lower price and higher efficiency, we would prefer to use the TPS6521905 PMIC to create our power rails rather than the recommended TPS653860.

Is there anything preventing the TPS6521905 from working with the AM263P4, since it is not listed as compatible?

Also, is it possible to export a configuration that can be programmed via a generic I2C device connected to the chip using test points and a bed of nails tester, or can the chip only be programmed using the GUI and the programming board?

Hi Max,

Thank you for reaching out on E2E.

The main reason could be automotive applications requiring safety PMIC. TPS653860 is a functional safety PMIC.

If functional safety is not required then TPS65219 is a great option for AM26x.

As long as you have access to I2C lines of the device, it can be programmed by few simple steps, outlined in the below programming guide page 9.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply. I have a quick follow-up question.

Would there be an issue using the PMIC's LDOs to generate the 1.8V analog and digital voltage rails for the AM263P4? Leaving its internal LDOs unused. Is there something we need to pay attention to when implementing it this way?

Hi Max,

Typically they are used to power different analog and digital rails, i don't see any problem as long as the current requirements are lower than LDO's current rating.
