Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to connect the LP2951 as a current limiting LDO similar to how the LM317 can be used. It isn't clear to me in the datasheet or app note.

A bit of a correction, I misunderstood the requirement. However, I still have a similar question. I'm looking for a constant current source. The LM317 can do this, but the dropout is too high. I'm wondering if the LP2951 is capable of doing the same thing.

Can not be done with LP2951.

This works with LM317 family because it does not require direct connection to ground, as the reference voltage is between the Vout and ADJ pin. This allows the two terminal current limiter configuration.

If you just want a little lower than the LM317 then you can use the LP2951 for a drop of about 1.6V instead of the almost 2.85V with the LM317 @ 100mA
