TPS4811-Q1: G2 pin state after a fault occurs

Part Number: TPS4811-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are designing around the TPS4811 controller and we have a question about what happens to the G2 pin (pre-charging FET driving pin) when a fault occurs. We understand the PU/PD pins turn off the main FET after a fault, but does the same occur to G2? We don't seem to find anything on the datasheet that indicates that G2 will turn off.

  • Hi Juan,

Yes, that is correct. Fault reporting and protections only affect G1, not G2. So, G2 will not turn off unless INP_G is turned off. BST_UVLO fault would have an impact on G2 though since CBST has to reach V(BST_UVLOR) in order for the gate driver to be activated.

    Thanks,
