TLVM13660: Specification difference b/w TPSM63606 and TLVM13660

Part Number: TLVM13660
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPSM63606,

Tool/software:

Hi,

I will change device from TPSM63606 to TLVM13660 because TLVM is much lower than TPSM.
My use case is Vin is 24V and Vout is 5V (Iout 3A - 4A). So TLVM can work correctly.
Pin assignment is same between TPSM and TLVM and also use same component for external "C" and "R".
So, we don't have plan to change schematic and layout. (Just replace from TPSM to TLVM.)
Then I have following question.

Q1. According to datasheet of TPSM and TLVM, it seems that typical characteristic from section "7.7" to "7.9" is same.
We have already confirmed load reguration and phase margin by using TPSM on our custom board. (In this case, there is no issue.)
I expect I can get same result to TPSM when I use TLVM. Is my understanding correct ?
(In other word, should I need to re-check  even if I have not changed schematic and layout ?)

Best Regards,

  • Hi,

The devices should have very similar performance. There is no spread spectrum EMI mitigation in the TLVM13660, and it is only qualified to output a voltage up to 6V. If this is ok for you, then you should be able to switch to the TLVM13660 without an issue to your application.

    Thank you,

  • Hi Austria,

    Thank you for your reply.
I did not use with "s" version. The parts number what I use is "TPSM63606RDLR".

What I would like you to comment is we can get same result between "TLVM13660RDLR" and "TPSM63606RDLR" as long as we do not change system configuration (such as Input/output condition, layout, schematic(Of course, on the premise that Vout is within spec of TLVM13660.))
Could you comment about above ?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi,

I understand. As long as your circuit is not configured to utilize the external sync function of the TPSM63606RDLR, they should have similar results.

    Thank you,

  • Hello Austria-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
    >As long as your circuit is not configured to utilize the external sync function of the TPSM63606RDLR, they should >have similar results.
Yes, I do not use external sync function.
Completely replace from TPSM63606 and TLVM13660. As I said, there is NO plan to change input(input power source)/output(output load) condition, external component and also layout.
According to datasheet of "9.2.1 Design 1 – High-Efficiency 6-A Synchronous Buck Regulator for Industrial Applications", "9.2.1.3 Application Curves" is completely same result between TPSM and TLVM.
So, I expected you answer "they should have same results" in previous reply.

However, you said "they should have similar results". Is there any reason you can NOT say "same result" even under above replacement conditon ?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Ryuuichi,

There will always be part to part variation, but for all intents and purposes they will have the same results.

    Thank you,

    Joshua Austria
