On the part data sheet pg 18 there is a drawing note "Exposed Tie Bar May Vary". What metal material are these tie bars made from, and are they considered electrically active?

Hello Nick,
Thanks for your interest in TI FETs. The metal (copper) tie bars are to hold the copper clips in place during assembly. This power block devices uses two copper clips for internal interconnect. Yes, the metal tie bars are electrically active. Those towards the top of the package are connected to VIN and those towards to bottom of the package are connected to SW. Some packages may have the tie bars and some may not depending on the packaging subcontractor. Let me know if you have any questions.
