UCC21331: SUGGESTION FOR 1 CHANNEL GATE DRIVER

Part Number: UCC21331
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC5304, UCC21750

Tool/software:

We want to use High Side Gate Driver for our Buck Converter. .  Currently we are using one channel of the UCC21331, and don' t need the 2nd channel.  Can you suggest 1 channel gate driver that is compatible?

Thanks for your reply on this, Here is what i want to know.

We do need the EN functionality, with the same polarity as the UCC21331.  We want to connect this pin to the /OC output of the TMCS133C5A current sensor.

For the pin voltages:

VDDA is ~ 12Vdc above the VSSA

VSSA is 300Vdc

INA is interfaced to 280049C control card digital output...

  • Hi Shruti,

We offer a various selection of single-channel gate drivers. Some include features such as extra protection or opto-compatible inputs, while others are more simpler in design. In order to help you find the best replacement for the UCC21331, I have a few questions about your current gate driver implementation in order to better help direct you to the right device.

    1. What are your VCCI, INA, and VDDA-VSSA voltages in your current system?

    2. Do you require a device Enable feature such as the EN pin on the UCC21331, or will the outputs be enabled at all times?

    3. Are there any switching or isolation performance requirements that you require from the gate driver?

Now, if the simplest single-channel gate driver is what you are looking for, then I would recommend checking out the UCC5304. However, it is important to mention that the UCC5304 has slightly different ratings compared to the UCC21331, and it does not include an Enable pin. I would definitely recommend double checking to make sure that the ratings and specs for the UCC5304 still fall under your system requirements. Please reach out if you have any more questions or system information you can provide, and I would be happy to answer them for you!

    Best regards,

    Will

  • Hi Shruti,

Based on your enable pin requirement, I would recommend possibly looking into UCC21750. This part features more protection features that could be beneficial for your system. However, if your current implementation already works and is cheaper overall to implement, then it is okay if you utilize only one channel of a dual-channel driver.
