    Hi Billy,

    1. On the schematic, D8 is optional but, if used, needs to be a Schottky diode.  I didn't check the values of the resistors but the spreadsheet at the link below helps with that.

    2. The layout is not ideal.  The IC has a powerpad for heat sinking that we recommend be via'd down to a ground plane.  The PVCC pin caps and too far from the IC PVCC and GND pins.  The GND return for power pin caps needs thicker/wider traces and more vias to internal GND.  The ground return for D5 needs more vias.  Since the current is only 1.5A this layout might work but the charger will have high EMI.
