BQ27Z746: Does BAT_SN require ESD protection if left it floating?

Hi Team,

Customer would like to connect BAT_SP to BATP and have BAT_SN left floating.

Does BAT_SN require ESD protection if left it floating? The battery space too limited to add more protection.

If it has to add protection, one TVS is enough or required another resistor? Will another resistor influence monitor and protection?

Hello Kailun,

It is recommended to add ESD protections to the BAT_SN and BAT_SP pins. You can add a TVS diode with a spark gap in parallel.

If this pin is floating, why it still need protection? There should be no external connection here.
