TPS563300: Inductor's saturation current selection

Hi,

I'm planning to use TPS563300 in my design, where my design's I_max is ~0.9A and I_lpeak is ~1.5A.

But the Datasheet suggests to choose Inductors Satuation Current
to be more than High-side switch current which is 5A.

How critical is it to match High-side switch current with the inductor's saturation current in practical applications.

Hi Viswan,

What is your maximum input voltage, Ouput Voltage also the switching frequency - So that i can calculate and give you the inductance value with current rating.

Vin_max: 20V
Vout: 5V
Fsw: 500kHz

Hi Viswan,

The datasheet says for the full IC rated output current.

If we consider the maximum output current in your case is 1.5A then your inductor peak current will come including inductor tolerance is 2.37A.

You have to choose a inductor RMS current as 6A and saturation current 7A.
