LM70880: LM70880, LM70860, LM70840 differences in efficiency?

Tool/software:

We're planning new DC/DC designs with a 40V input voltage and various output voltages (3.3V, 5V, 20V) at various output currents (100mA, 1A, 2A, and 4A).

What's the difference between the LM70880, LM70860, and LM70840? Why not simply use the 8A type for all designs? There's little or no difference in the datasheet.

Are there any differences in efficiency?

Yes, it is possible to use a single highest device (8A) for all of the designs.

Yes, the BOM schematic will change depending on the output load, input and output voltages.
