BQ78350-R1: Inquiry on application

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

Here are 2 questions need check with you:

1. My customer understands that after selecting the chemical ID, it is basically available, but further experiments to extract 7 key parameters are to further follow up the characteristics of the battery pack to make further SOC compensation, such as temperature compensation. Could you help review if such understanding is correct? Can you give a correct understanding?

2. Download the R2 version firmware to the R1 chip. Refer to Section 2.2.4 of Using the bq78350-R1, I think the parameters involved are mainly IPSCALE, which is set to 0x1 units to expand to 10 times the original. Question: Before the whole experiment, what parameters do we need to configure? We know that there are EDV2, Design capacity, Leam full capacity. If IPSSCAL is expanded by 10 times, which parameters need to be modified synchronously? After the experiment, before generating the golden file, do we need to restore the original settings?

Joyce

  • Hello Joyce,

This question has been assigned and will be follow up when possible.

    Thank you,
    Alan

  • #1: The bq78350 can adjust EDV2/1/0 based on measured current and temperature. This will improve the accuracy of the Full Charge Capacity measurement and therefore the accuracy of SOC. More information is available in the TRM, https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluubd3e/sluubd3e.pdf, 9.1.7 End-of-Discharge Thresholds and Capacity Correction and 9.1.9 EDV Discharge Rate and Temperature Compensation

#2: IPSCALE effectively changes the units for current, charge, power and energy from mA/mAh/mW/mWh to 10mA/10mAh/cW/cWh so you'll have to manually adjust every parameter that is in one of these units with the scaled version. You do not have to restore original settings.
