LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: How to connect external battery to the above Launchpad Launchxl - CC26X2R1

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1

Tool/software:

I tried to disconnect the Jumper from XDS110 power supply to external power supply, and then connected a coin cell to the 3V3 and GND located near DIO15 pin. But still there was no indication of the board being turned on. I would like to know

1. what is the voltage range in which it works

2. how to connect the external power coin cell to the launchpad board.

thanks, siva

  • Hi siva,

Here is a LaunchPad Quick Start Guide, including a "Running the CC26x2R from External Power" section.

It is possible to run the device off different supply voltages by disconnecting the 3.3 V jumper and connecting a power supply between 1.8 V and 3.6 V to any of the pins marked 3V3. In this case the Power Jumper must be placed in the Extern Pwr position to connect the external supply to the XDS110 level shifters. Note that even though the supply voltage range of the CC26x2R is up to 3.8 V, the maximum voltage in this case is limited by the level shifters at 3.6 V.

Typically I will disconnect all XDS110 Jumpers so that I can power the CC2652R1 without any debugger hardware interference.

    Regards,
    Ryan
