TPS65217CEVM: looking for a replacement for MAX77658

Part Number: TPS65217CEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65217

Tool/software:

Hi I am looking for a PMIC or a combination of ICs that satisfy the following constraints-

1. Supplies Atleast 4 power rails - 3.3V, 1.2V, 2.2-2.5V, 1.9V

2. Low Quiescent current ( total < 100uA)

3. Integrated battery charging and battery management ( doesn't have to be very precise)

4. Should be able to run on a 3.7 V lipo battery even when the battery is discharged

Do you have any recommendations ?

Regards,

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out on E2E.

Regarding the 4 power rails, is there a need for Bucks vs LDOs / what is maximum current requirement for these rails?

Of our PMICs that support integrated battery charging, TPS65217 looks to be the best fit for your requirements here.

    TPS65217x:

    • 3 Bucks, 4 LDOs
    • ~15 uA quiescent current per converter
    • Integrated battery charger and power path
    • TPS652170 is user-programmable to configure the desired output voltage values

Let me know if you have any follow up questions regarding this device.

If you are looking for discrete ICs, then I would recommending  taking a look at the Battery Management ICs, and creating a separate post under one of these part numbers if you have further questions.

    Best Regards,
    Sarah

  • Maximum current requirement would be around 200mA for a  rail, some voltage rails require lower current ~150mA

  • Hello,

In that case, TPS65217 should still be a good fit,
using the three buck converters and one of the higher output current LDOs (LDO3 or LDO4)
LDO3/4 can be configured to support up to 200 mA or 400 mA.

    Best Regards,
    Sarah
