TPS1685: IMON/ILIM load

Part Number: TPS1685

Tool/software:

Hello,

I would like to monitor the current flowing through the TPS1685 using the IMON pin.

The voltage on the IMON pin will be passed through an op-amp in a non-inverting amplifier configuration, before entering an A/D.

However, since the TPS1685 will server as the main power entry point, the op-amp will not be powered during the start-up phase of the hot swap.

I'm worried that the IMON current source will be loaded by the unpowered op-amp positive input, which may cause start up issues.

Will it be safer to use ILIM as the current monitor (since it doesn't effect the start-up phase)?

Thanks for the help,

Alex
