TLC59116: OFF state current

Part Number: TLC59116

Tool/software:

Hi,

What is the OFF state current of the OUT pins?

Even though all LED driver x, LDRx=00 of LEDOUT0/1/2/3 registers are OFF, the LEDs are still on with very dim light.

The white LED is Cree XD16 that supports up to 2A current.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Choon,

Thanks for reaching out! Our expert is traveling for business and he will get back to you early next week. Thank you for your patience.

  • Hi Choon,

Could you help to check the current flow through the white LED when the very dim light was observed?

From the spec shown in datasheet there will be max 0.5uA leakage current at VO = 17V for each output. So the sum leakage current may be uA level.

Besides that, may I know what's the required current for the white LED in real application? And who's the customer and what's the end application?

    Best regards,

    Felix

  • Hi Felix,

    I'm attaching more detailed schematic.

As we did more experiments, it turned out this is the LED cathode terminal's voltage level issue when both MOSFET and LED driver are off.

So the White LED is blinked low dim light for very short time even though the LED driver is off at the MOSET turning on timing.

This issue was resolved after adding a 100kΩ pull-up resistors at the LED driver outputs.

    Best,

    Choon
