Hi Team,
Could you please help share more materials about DESAT function? Customer is concern the performance because when they do short-circuit test, IGBT will damage 10 times test.

Hello Francis,
Thanks for reaching out.
For more information about the DESAT function. You can check out Section 8.3.7 in the datasheet as shown below.
If the customer is seeing IGBT damage during the short-circuit test, the blanking time might be too long and/or Vds threshold might be too high. The customer can use the Jolt calculator on the product page to check the Vds threshold and blanking time and adjust accordingly. I would recommend capturing waveforms if the issue persists.
Best regards,
Muiz
Hi Mulz,
Thanks for your detailed reply, customer said they need 1us SCP, and UCC21750 DESAT delay is about 750ns, could you please help provide your professional advices here? Is there any other choice? Thanks in advance.
2us for 15Vgs, 1us for 18Vgs.
BRs,
Francis
One more question, how to design the Vds threshold? Thanks.

Hello Francis,
Could you please provide me with a waveform showing the DESAT voltage, collector current(Ic) during the short-circuit test.
To calculate your Vds threshold, you can use the calculation tool on the Jolt product page. The tool is called "SLUC695 — UCC217xx XL Calculator Tool" and is located in the "Design and Development" section on the product page. I have attached a link below:
UCC21750-Q1 data sheet, product information and support | TI.com
Within the tool, you have DESAT calculator pictured below, which you can use to calculate the Vds threshold.
Hi Muiz,
So the DESAT voltage means the threshold for triggering OCP or SCP, right? Sorry for the confusion before.
BRs,
Francis
