BQ25758: How to synchronise 2 or 3 controllers out of phase

Part Number: BQ25758

Tool/software:

I have some questions regarding the external clock feature.

i want to connect 2 or 3 BQ25758 in parallel to increase output current.

to minimise the output capacitance i want them to switch exactly out of phase.

There is however not much documentation on the external clock feature.

At what instance of the clock signal does the buck-boost circuit switch?

  • Hi,

The switching frequency should be the same as the clock frequency. There is a PLL inside the device that will synchronize the frequencies, but there is a delay from the clock edge on the pin and the switching cycle. The delay should be consistent across devices allowing for switching synchronization. If the clock signals are out of phase, the switching cycles should be out of phase from each other by the same amount.

Let me know if this answers your question or if you have any follow-up questions.

    Best regards,
