Tool/software:

We are testing the TPS25750EVM and have a setup similar to the attached diagram.

The board successfully charges the mobile phone. However, the PC is unable to establish a data connection with the mobile phone.

We have already configured the TPS25750 to Dual-Role Power (DRP) using the TI Application Customization Tool, but the data transfer is still not working.

Our main questions are:

Is it possible to enable data communication between a PC and a mobile phone using the TPS25750EVM? How?
We have seen some posts suggesting that an external USB hub is required for data transfer. Is this correct?
Is there a recommended test method or reference circuit that demonstrates how to design a system where a PC can communicate with a mobile phone while using the TPS25750 as the Power Delivery controller?

Hi,

Let me check with team and see if there were any use case with using TPS25750EVM as a USB bridge between PC and Mobile Phone.

Also as a side note, we have a follow-on device for TPS25750 that is pin to pin compatible with additional feature/configurability options and is aligned with the latest PD 3.2 specification. We are building up inventory for TPS25751EVM and they should be back in stock soon.

Regarding your query, the EVM (TPS25750 and TPS25751) are not designed to handle USB data communication and can't be used to act as a USB bridge. Can you provide specific details on how you're looking to evaluate the PD controller and what kind of application would TPS25750/1 be used for?
