in my board I am using a linear battery charger for a 3s2p, 2400 mAh NiMH battery pack.
The system is up and running at the moment, but I have to change something on the board and I am investigating the possibility of using a switching charger instead of a linear one.
Requirements:
- USB 5 V input
- extended temperature range: -20/+65 °C
- constant current charging with timer charge termination:
- Vcell < 1.27V => 480 mA (0.2C), 5h
- 1.27V < Vcell < 1.30V => 240 mA (0.1C), 6h
- Vcell > 1.30V => 120 mA (0.05C), 6h
- no need for DeltaV termination because of the low charge current
- power path
I was looking at some chargers (BQ25820, BQ25750, BQ25720 and others) but I am not sure they can do the job for me as NiMH are not mentioned in their data sheets; moreover, they have a high shutdown current and I need a small one (but it's not a strict requirement).
Any suggestion will be pretty much appreciated.
