BQ25713: How to suppress the overshoot of the VBUS input current (IIN)

Hi, team.

This is a question regarding the overshoot of the VBUS input current (IIN) of the BQ25713.

In the configuration shown in the diagram below, when a load current exceeding the limit power of USB VBUS was applied, the current drawn from VBUS exceeded the IIN_HOST value set for the BQ25713.

The expected behavior is that the control should prevent exceeding the current value of IIN_HOST.

Is it possible to reduce the amount of overshoot by changing circuit constants, switching frequency, or other registers?

If so, please let me know which adjustments should be made.

Hi,

The IINDPM overshoot is inherit to the charger BQ25713. I would suggest trying BQ25723 since we made some improvement on that front.

As long as we are using the BQ25713, is there no way to suppress the IIN overshoot?

That is correct, this is why we advise to switch to BQ25723. BQ25723 and BQ25713 are pin-to pin compatible and it looks like they are realtivly the same price on ti.com. So, I would higly recommend swicthing over to BQ25723.
