BQ40Z50-R2: The function of Taper_volt bit

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2

Tool/software:

Hi TI experts

I have a question regarding the Taper_Volt bit setting in the Charging Configuration, as shown below:

If this bit is set to 1, charge termination will be based on a fixed voltage value, rather than the charging voltage divided by the number of cells.

Let’s assume the charge termination voltage is 4300 mV, and the full charge voltage is 4400 mV.

Now, if cycle degradation is enabled and the charging voltage drops by 100 mV or more after 200 cycles, the new charging voltage would be 4300 mV or lower.

With Taper_Volt enabled, does this mean the battery would never reach full charge, since it can no longer reach the fixed 4300 mV threshold?

Thanks

Steven
