Hi,

Using TPS23861 for 16 port PSE,
Can I set some ports to AT protocol output and the other ports to AF protocol output through I2C?

  • Hi Reed,

    Yes, TPS23861 is by default (auto mode) AT power with Icut up to 645mA for class-4. You can use I2C to set some of TPS23861's port to AF with Icut of 374mA as below example:

    1. Power on TPS23861. PWR and /reset are set, but hold /SHTDWN = L
    2. Set 12h = 10101010 -> set all 4 channels to semi-auto mode
    3. Make /SHTDWN = H
    4. Set 14h = FFh -> Enable all ports detection and classification
    5. 2Ah = 33h, 2Bh = 33h -> set Icut = 374 mA
    6. 19h = 0Fh -> Turn on the port with valid detection and classification. You should see eligible ports are turned on. If the port current is higher than 204 mA, you should see the port turns off.

    Best regards,

    Diang
