LP5009: Driving RGB LEDs in Parallel

Part Number: LP5009
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP5018

Tool/software:

Hi,

We have a exisitng design based on LP5009 driving 3 RGB LEDs.

We want to update the design to drive 6 RGBs in total using LP5009 as shown below. Please review the schematics and let us knoe if we can drive two RGB LED in parallel.

  • Hi

Our expert will reply to you later.

    Thanks and best regards.

  • Hi,

Yes you can drive two RGB LED in parallel, but please note that it may introduce current imbalance across the LEDs. here are some suggestions to optimize the performance:

    1. PCB layout: Ensure consistent trace lengths for all parallel LED branches to minimize impedance variations.

    2. Component Selection: Use same LED part to guarantee uniform forward voltage.

If precise current matching is required. You can choose LP5018.

To help us better understand your project needs, Could you share with us about what the end equipment is? And project schedule if have? We can move to email to discuss this, my email address: leon-he@ti.com
