BQ27Z746: BQ27Z746 / BQ27Z746R1 DL golden image with EV2400/EV2300

Part Number: BQ27Z746
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, , BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hi Officer,

1. Golden Image Download and Mass Production Programming

Through Battery Management Studio, we can now successfully download the golden image. However, when discussing mass production, we found that BQ-BMS-PROGRAMMER-SW only supports the EV2300 and does not seem to support the EV2400.

Additionally, we can only download the golden image to the BQ27Z746 using the EV2400.

Therefore, we would like to ask: Does TI have any program similar to BQ-BMS-PROGRAMMER-SW that supports the EV2400 and can automatically program the IC? For example, a tool where we can input commands and run the download process automatically.

2. Difference Between BQ27Z746 and BQ27Z746R1 in Battery Management Studio

We have mounted the BQ27Z746 on the board and found that Battery Management Studio lists two device names: BQ27Z746 and BQ27Z746R1.

Both appear to allow golden image downloads. However, our golden image file is named BQ27Z746R1, and we cannot find the part number BQ27Z746R1 in the BQ27Z746 datasheet.

We would like to know:

  • What exactly is the BQ27Z746R1?

  • In Battery Management Studio, should we select the IC part number as mounted on the board, or should we follow the golden image file name?

Please shar your comment, thanks a lot.

Best Regards,

Raven

  • Hello,

This question has been assigned and will be reviewed when possible. In the meantime if you can attach the .gg and/or .log associated with the project.

    Thank you,
    Alan

  • Hello,

The BQ27Z746R1 is just the name for another newer FW that is compatible with the BQ27Z746 HW. This FW can be downloaded on ti.com on the BQ27Z746 product page. The datasheet is the documentation for the hardware whereas the Technical Reference Manual is the documentation for the firmware. For documentation regarding the "R1" version, please refer to the appropriate Technical Reference Manual on the product page.

    Regards,

    Jonny.

  • Hello,

Thanks Jonny, that resolved my question 2, please also help us with question 1, thanks a lot.

    Best Regards,

    Raven.

  • Hello,

No we do not have any similar tool, nor do we provide any production level tools. BQStudio can export what is called a golden image. In this golden image is simply a sequence of commands (writes, delays, and read compares). You can have a host MCU interpret these commands and program this file onto gauges in production.

    Regards,

    Jonny.
