Tool/software:
Hello, my systems consume 35 mA, which is a lot. I want to know if the current design with TPS63001DRCR is responsible for this consumption.
I TRIED INCREASING THE c23 TO 20 uF, but I got the same result.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Karam,
Again what's the battery voltage during your test? Is the 5mA refer to the total current out of the battery?

Lei
Hi Karam,
Sorry for one more question, is the 4mA (not 5mA) was consumed when there is no load at the Vout?
Regards
Lei
Hi Karam,
Yes now the consumed current is clear between 3.65 mA and 4mA.
During this test, what's the load at the TPS63001 output? No load? Or for example 1mA Iout?

Lei
Hi Karam,
When PS pin is connected to Vin and the power-save mode is disabled, this input current is possible, especially if the current is read directly from the Vin supply and not so accurate.
For the confirmation, on your board, could you set the PS pin to low, enable the power-save mode, and make the load (Iout) to 1mA and 10mA, then measure the total input current or the efficiency? With so we can have the data to compared with the efficiency data in datasheet to check whether there is some thing wrong on your board.

Lei
When the Power Save (PS) pin is set to low with an output load (Iout
) of 99.15 µA, the input current (Iin
) drawn from the battery is 347.17 µA. This means the TPS63001 regulator circuit itself consumes 248.02 µA.
Under different conditions:
If Vbat
= 4.2V and Iout
= 1.7mA, Iin
is 347.17 µA.
If Vbat
= 3.3V and Iout
= 1.7mA Iin
is 7mA
Hi Karam,
Sorry I can't found an EVM to confirm whether the Iin you observed is normal, especially when Vbat = 3.3V. For Vbat = 4.2V, I think it's reasonable.
I suggest that you can configure the device in IQ test condition (please bias the FB a little higher, such as Vref + 100mV when test IQ), measure the IQ and compare with the spec in datasheet. If they match, then the device should be OK.
