TPS281C30: Current rating for this device and Product longevity

Hi Team,

Please clarify whether the part number TPS281C30B internal FET supports continuous current rating of 10A. Current limit mentioned as 10A but the electrical characteristics show continuous current of 6A Typ. Confirm the worst case continuous current rating. Also please mention does this part number will be available for next 5 years.

    Hi Muthulakshmi,

    What will the ambient operating temperature of your system be? The max current rating is determined by normal I^2 * Ron calculations, with Tj,max as 175C (thermal shutdown temperature). If the max ambient operating temperature is lower, the max current will be higher.

    The current limit levels are typically used for overcurrent events as per application needs, so they are positioned above the nominal max operating current. These devices can take higher currents for a short amount of time before reaching thermal shutdown.

    TI does not have any plans for EOLing this TPS281C30.
