BQ79631-Q1: The 2* packs balanced

Part Number: BQ79631-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

We have 2*pack and These two battery packs are connected to the system in parallel. It is possible that one battery pack is fully charged at 54V,

while the other battery pack is only 47V. In this case, does TI have a balancing scheme (chip) for these two battery packs? Instead of the chip inside the battery pack;

Can you advise if the BQ79631-Q1 can support it, thanks.

  • Hello,

    Our devices are designed to balance cells which are in series. Having 2 battery packs in parallel with a monitor dedicated to each pack is unnecessary, since you can use 1 channel on parallel cells. So, you can have 1 IC dedicated to both packs (since the packs are in parallel).

    Thank you,

    Zachary

  • Hi Zachary,

    Thanks for you kindly support.

    Now, because of the the customized Packs, we consider to balance the battery packs change, and the Packs have Integrated the BMS,

    we are afraid of the unbalanced battery charging that the battery will be damaged when use for long time,

    so we need to know if TI has some Packs balanced device, thanks.

  • Hello,

    We do not offer a product designed for balancing packs as it is unnecessary as you can set the voltage level the same across all your devices, so that they will balance to the same voltage independently of one another.

    Thank you,

    Zachary
