Hello,

I couldn't find the threshold for the short-circuit protection (SCP) in the datasheet. I am trying to understand exactly when the controller enters into SCP shutdown mode. Please advice.

Hi Mahboob,

To enter SCP, the average inductor current limit and output voltage below 0.8V both need to be satisfied, then the device would enter hiccup mode(if enabled).

So the SCP shutdown occurs when the average inductor current exceeds 8A? and the output voltage drops below 0.8V?

Hi Mahboob,

Yes, the average inductor current limit should be triggered and Vout drops below 0.8V needs to be satisfied as well, then the device will enter SCP.

Hi Bryce,

I have to provide a threshold value to a client in numerical form. Could you please confirm the specific threshold number for SCP?

The datasheet clearly specifies the threshold for OVP in numbers in the Electrical Characteristics section. However, the threshold for SCP is loosely defined and lacks a precise numerical value. i would appreciate it if you could confirm a specific number for this.

As described in datasheet, to enter SCP, two condition needs to be satisfied and the average inductor current limit spec is as below.
