TPS7A45: Efficiency of TPS7A4533

Tool/software:

Hello TI expert, I am interested in using TPS7A4533 to convert 5V to 3.3V. I am wondering what the efficiency of the LDO will be when load current is 600mA maximum and 200mA minimum. Do you have an efficiency curve for this part that you can share?

    Hi Joe,

    The efficiency for any LDO = Output Power / Input power = (Vout x Iout)/ (Vin x Iin)

    Since Iout = Iin for an LDO, for your specific use case, the upper bound on the efficiency of the TPS7A4533 = 3.3/5 = 66%

    I say upper bound because the actual efficiency will be slightly lower. The Iin will include quiescent current as well i.e. Iin = Iout + Iq
