TPS62A02: Active discharge path when EN=0

Hi,

I'm using the above part for our module design. One question I've is regarding the active discharge switch in the functional block diagram. Can I confirm that this switch is automatically enabled when EN=0?

If so, what is the discharging rate like?

Hello Daryl,

thanks for reaching out in E2E.

The active discharge is active when EN=0 (<0.4V) and if VIN is within the recommended operating range (2.5V...5.5V).

The discharge current is specified in the datasheet with typical 76mA.

Thanks Andrea. The discharge current 76mA as stated in the datasheet is specified at Vout=2V. Can I assume the effective pulldown R is 26 ohm (2V/76mA)? And if my Vout is at 1V, the discharge current would be ~38mA?

Hi Daryl,

Andreas is on vacation and I can support you.

The discharge in this device is via a current sink and not a resistor. So even if you have VOUT=1V, the discharge current will be ~76mA.
