Hi Expert,
Since DS didn't mentioned about it, could you teach me how to calculate the insertion loss of TUSB542RWQR?
=> We need the insertion loss data based on 5GHz and 2.5GHz.
Thank you.

Hi Evan,
As the TUSB542 is an active mux it has redriver functionality built in. This means that it will actually improve the loss budget of the system. The best way to visualize this is that the TUSB542 actually boosts the signal. We can simulate this using the IBIS AMI file found here: https://www.ti.com/product/TUSB542#design-tools-simulation
let me know if you have any more questions.
Hi Vishesh,
How about the TUSB542 itself?
Customer would like to know insertion loss caused by the IC.
Or we just ignore that part since it's a redriver.
Could you explain further about this part? I need to explain why we don't have such info to customer.
Thank you.
Hi Evan,
This part is a redriver integrated with a MUX. Meaning that the typical insertion loss properties that a passive mux have do not apply here, as the redriver portion of this chip will compensate for this. I reached out to our validation engineer who should have the EQ and loss waveforms, but he is out of office until tomorrow.
Yes because this chip is a redriver built in, this part will add to the loss budget not remove from it.
Hi Vishesh,
Thank you for the update.
I reached out to our validation engineer who should have the EQ and loss waveforms, but he is out of office until tomorrow.
Please further help us to check this part.
HI Evan,
Still working with the engineer to get the correct plots. This data was taken in 2015, so its taking some time to find.
Here are the loss profiles seen of the TUSB542. Keep in mid this is a limited redriver + MUX, so the gain will be seen as much higher than expected by a VNA. There three clusters of values are at EQ settings 3, 6 ,9
Hi Vishesh,
Thank you for the sharing.
I will send it to customer for reference.
