TPS62827: Bode Plot differs from TPS62826

Part Number: TPS62827
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62826, , TPS62824,

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Customer evaluates both TPS62826 and TPS62827 and found there are different perfromance.

For example, the bode plot with VIN=5.1V, VOUT = 1.5V, IOUT=3A @ EVM are shown below.

TPS62826: Left, TPS62827: Right

Customer and I understand they are in same family and the difference is only OCP threshold, but there are some specs and parameters written in the datasheet are excluding TPS62827. So customer assumes TPS62827 IP differes from other TPS62824/5/6. But TPS62827A is same as others. Could you let me know the difference between them?

Customer have some reason to use TPS62827 at <3A load, but TPS62827 has less gain around 10kHz, so they concern input voltage varying causes output directly.

Best regards,

Hayashi

  • Hi Hayashi,

The customer's bode measurement for TPS62827 doesn't seem correct.

I checked this on our EVM for the same conditions VIN=5.1V, VOUT = 1.5V, IOUT=3A. Bandwidth is around 500KHz.

TPS62827 has a slightly different compensation in addition to the OCP and soft start times when compared to TPS62824/5/6.

    Best regards,

    Varun
