TPS25750: Request for detailed guidance to program TPS25750DRJKR (without EEPROM) and control BQ25792 via I2Ct

Hello TI Support,

We are integrating the TPS25750DRJKR (with no external EEPROM if possible) with a BQ25792RQMR charger. Our host MCU must load the TPS25750 patch + application configuration at boot via the I2C target interface (I2Ct), then allow full PD / PPS and charger management.

Could you please help with the following essential points:

Technical Reference Manual / Register Map: How can we obtain the TRM (including the I2C host download protocol)? Is an NDA required?
Image Reuse: Can the binary produced by the Web GUI (intended for EEPROM) be used verbatim for host (I2Ct) download, or does it need transformation/encapsulation?
Minimal Download Sequence: Required steps to (a) detect BOOT mode, (b) initiate transfer, (c) send data blocks (recommended block size / timing), and (d) command execution of the loaded image. An example or script reference would be very helpful.
Charger Coordination: Is there an application note or example showing how the TPS25750 coordinates PD/PPS changes with BQ25792 register updates when PPS voltage/current changes?

If you can provide (or advise how to request) the TRM and any example resources, we will proceed with integration.

No. This is done automatically via I2Cc between the PD and the BQ. In the GUI you select the appropriate BQ device and the I2C event table is generated automatically.

Thank you for your detailed response and the provided resources. They are very helpful for our integration.

Regarding the charger coordination with the BQ25792: Could you please provide an example of how to configure the BQ25792 registers through the TPS25750 (via I2Cc)? From what I see in the application note (https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slvafv8a/slvafv8a.pdf#page=14), it seems the binary described only includes the TPS25750 configuration and does not contain any charger-specific configuration. If I'm mistaken, could you clarify or point to an example where the BQ25792 settings are included or managed via the TPS?

The BQ25792 settings are included but there is not documentation/explanation other than you select the BQ device and configure accordingly through the GUI questionnaire.

You could place a sniffer on the I2C bus between the PD and the BQ to see how the PD controller writes to the BQ to configure the mode (enable/disable charge), set the voltage and current, etc.

If you do not want the PD to control the BQ device automatically then you could read the state of the PD controller and then write directly to the BQ device. This mechanism is possible but you need to ensure the timing so that the PD specification is not violated by the overhead of the communication.
