TPS25751EVM: TPS25751EVM: Inquiry regarding TPS25751D external EEPROM write During initial production

Part Number: TPS25751EVM

Tool/software:

Hi TI Expert,

I have a question regarding the USB Type-C PD Controller 'TPS25751D'.

I would like to configure the TPS25751D to operate with an external EEPROM, similar to the TPS25751D EVM.

During initial production, when the firmware image has not yet been written to the EEPROM,

the system does not receive DC 5 V VBUS power through ‘751_PPHV’ (see the circuit diagram below).

However, power must be supplied to the system in order to program the firmware image into the EEPROM via the USB port of a PC.

Could you please confirm this behavior and advise on the recommended approach?

Thank you.

  • Hi Jae,

The power path behavior upon boot will depend on the Dead Battery Configuration setting on ADCINx pins.

The device will enable the sink path in AlwaysEnableSink Dead Battery Configuration (see below table from datasheet). I

t seems the device is currently set to SafeMode where the power path remains disabled until a configuration has been loaded onto the device. You could verify by checking the ADCINx pin resistor divider circuit.

    Best Regards,
