We are in the process of verifying our application, which incorporates the TPS82130. We are using load steps to verify stability, but would like confirmation whether it is possible to test the stability criteria with a Bode Plot Analyzer (Ridley or OMICRON Labs), and subsequently use the results for a Pass/Fail assessment ? (Gain and Phase margin)
The TPS82130 employs a Constant On-Time (COT) architecture, which is normally not Linear Time-Invariant (LTI). In a COT regulator, there is typically a flip-flop or comparator in the control loop that introduces non-linear behavior between the injected stimulus and the response. So a Bode Plot is not meaningful for a standard COT device - It may be different in the TPS82130, and we would like confirmation on this point from TI power specialist.
