TPS62827: How to calculate the output discharge resistor ?

Part Number: TPS62827

Tool/software:

Hi All,

In tps62827 datasheet, there are only discharge current.

How to find out the output discharge current ?

Can I use V=IR to get the output discharge current ?

 => Rdischarge  = 0.4v / 75mA

Thanks.

  • Hello,

I will get back to you tomorrow.

    Thanks,

  • Hello,

I am not sure if I understand your request correctly.

The output discharge circuit is something like a current sink... And the discharge current limits are as specified in the table above.

    What exactly do you need?

    Thanks,

    Febin

  • Hello,

In our design, due to power sequence control, we need the power to discharge quickly.

Therefore, we are evaluating a power controller which have an internal output discharge resistor, and to ensure that the output voltage discharge time is not too long, we require the discharge resistor to be no larger than 20ohm.

I just want to confirm whether the output discharge resistor of tps62827 meets this requirement.

  • Hello,

Please have a look at the datasheet Figure 8-41 & Figure 8-42 to get an understanding of typical discharge time.

And the best way would be to test this on an EVM for your application conditions.

    Thanks,
