TPS92691-Q1: Enable/Disable switching

Part Number: TPS92691-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am planning to use TPS92691-Q1 for a LED driver design and I intend to use it in BOOST mode. In my design I don't intend to use the PWM dimming functionality, so if I tie PWM pin to VCC, would I still get the intended output voltage after switching?

As per my interpretation of the datasheet, can TPS92691-Q1 be enabled or disabled by controlling the voltage on SS(Soft-start) pin?

Thanks

  • Hi Vaibhav,

I am planning to use TPS92691-Q1 for a LED driver design and I intend to use it in BOOST mode. In my design I don't intend to use the PWM dimming functionality, so if I tie PWM pin to VCC, would I still get the intended output voltage after switching?

Yes, please refer to the following section of the data sheet

As per my interpretation of the datasheet, can TPS92691-Q1 be enabled or disabled by controlling the voltage on SS(Soft-start) pin?

Yes, however, if you pull down the voltage on the soft start pin, then the device will have to go through soft start again when re-enabled.

    Best,

  • Hi Daniel,

I intend to use the SS pin as an ON/OFF switch in my design, so I think it is acceptable when I turn OFF and turn ON the system again, I want the device to go through soft-start.

Can I use a FET to switch the SS pin between ground and soft-start capacitor?

    Thanks,
