Tool/software:

Hello,

My customer is looking for Wired & Wireless charger IC solution that supports the following conditions.

  - Battery 3.7V. LiIon.  1400mAH

  - USB 5V charging power input

Please recommend suitable products among TI's wired and wireless charging ICs.

Thank you.

JH

  • Hi JH

The BQ51052B is a 4.40V wireless power charger.  This unit is available and could charge the battery.

Another option is to use the BQ51013B wireless power supply and BQ25170 battery charger.  This approach has an advantage if both wired and wireless charging is used.  Power to the charge can easily be switched between the two inputs.  Similar to the BQ51013B-Q1 + BQ25171-Q1 application note here.

  • Hi Bill,

    Thank you for your reply.

    The customer has further questions.

Q1. the BQ51052B is the newer wireless charger than the BQ51031B. Could you also recommend a wired charger solution that can be used with this product?

In the above application note, is it ok to replace BQ51013B-Q1 with BQ51052B?

Q2. Could you also recommend a Wireless Transmitter product to be used in pair with the Wireless Receiver you recommended?

             - Input power of the charger : DC 5 - 24V

             - Prefer products with EVM

    Thanks,

    JH

  • Hi JH

Q1. the BQ51052B is the newer wireless charger than the BQ51031B. Could you also recommend a wired charger solution that can be used with this product? -- Do not recommend using a wired charger with the BQ51052B.  NTC in battery pack cannot be shared between two chargers.  If the BQ51013B is used then BQ25170 can be used.

In the above application note, is it ok to replace BQ51013B-Q1 with BQ51052B?  -- Do not recommend this due to difficulty with NTC sharing.

Q2. Could you also recommend a Wireless Transmitter product to be used in pair with the Wireless Receiver you recommended?  -- Yes the BQ25170.

    - Input power of the charger : DC 5 - 24V  -- This would require a switching charger, would his be OK?

  • Dear Bill,

The customer is also looking for a compatible Tx.
Could you please advise if the following combination would work without any issues?
If not, we would appreciate it if you could recommend a suitable solution.

    Vin is 5V to 24V

    BQ51013B + BQ25170 + BQ500212

  • Hi JH

    BQ51013B + BQ25170 + BQ500212

This would be a good solution for 5V in (BQ500212A) and 4.4V out to battery (BQ51013B + BQ25170).

But do not have a Vin 5V to 24V solutions.

  • Hi Bill,

    Thank you for your reply.

BQ500212A is confirmed to be in NRND status as below. Please recommend a suitable Wireless Transmitter product for the customer.

If there is no 5V to 24V solution, please suggest a 5V solution first.

    Regards,

    JH

  • Hi JH

Sorry but all TI transmitters are NRND, they do not meet the latest WPC standards and cannot be certified.

But no plan to EOL the units and they will work with all TI receivers.
