UCC27322: Will ROH pull up resistance change with Iout varying?

Part Number: UCC27322
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27614,

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Customer would like to use our UCC27614. The waveform below is the desired output current. Obviously this is not used as a mosfet driver.

Since the current flow throw the UCC27614 is pretty high, about 400mA. And  the current flow through ROH will cause massive power loss.

The ROH is 2.5ohm for UCC27614. Customer would like to find a device with lower ROH. And i found UCC27322 with 0.6 ohm ROH.

Questions:

  • Will ROH change with Iout varying? Because i saw that the test condition limited Iout=-10mA for UCC27322.
  • If Iout=400mA, will the P channel mosfet enter saturation region?
  • Do you have better suggestions for device with lower ROH?

Best regards

Hanbing

  • Hi Hanbing,

Our gate drivers cannot handle constant current, and we recommend keeping the average current at the output pins at 0A. An average current of 400mA is too high, and can risk breaking the output structure of most gate drivers.

What load does the customer intend to drive with the gate driver? What is the application (provide schematic if available, please).

    Thanks,
    Rubas
