Our customer is considering the following configuration. Could you please review whether this configuration complies with USB and VESA Standard Compliance?

・USB 2.0 Host only support
　 *USB 3.x not support
・DP Alt mode support
・PD DRP(Sink/Source) support

Question
USB and VESA Standard Compliance

　　Does the configuration listed in the Feature List on the previous page violate any USB or VESA standards?
　　I'm concerned because it's a rather uncommon configuration.

We have passed both USB and DP compliance with the TUSB546 but I would like to have more information on the system itself. Do we we have block diagram of the system?

Hi,

Yes the TUSB546 can work in this application. However, the TUSB422 does not support alt. mode.

The TUSB422 must be replaced by a full PD controller if the customer wants to use DP alt mode. Reach out to the PD for an appropriate PD controller. I do not have expertise on PD parts.

What data rate is the customer targeting for DP? Are the looking for DP1.2 or DP1.4 speeds?

Thank you for your support.

We will check separately for a full-PD controller.
The data rate is Full HD 60Hz.
Also, they use DP1.2.

Is there any problem with their concern, "Does this block diagram (PPT) comply with USB and VESA standards?"
I'm not sure if this is something I should check with the IC supplier, but any advice would be appreciated.

From what I see in the block diagram this solution should be appropriate.

This circuit is "under consideration" and we don't yet have a schematic or layout.

However, the customer's request was simply, "Does it comply with the USB/VESA standard?"
Currently, we only have a block diagram.

This is confidential, so I've attached it to his PM. I can send it to you if necessary.

Understood. I thought you were waiting from something on our side or had provided some document for review. Like Vishesh said, for DP alt-mode, a different PD controller is needed to enable this functionality, and it would be better to reach out to that team, or look at the PD products they have available: https://www.ti.com/product-category/interface/usb-ics/usb-type-power-delivery-ics/products.html

I have a different question.
There is a similar product, the TUSB546A-DCI.
Is version "A" currently recommended?
I believe this is the fixed version of DCI.

The TUSB546A-DCI fixes a DCI issue present in the TUSB546-DCI. I would recommend the A version currently, yes.
