TPS25751: About after dead battery mode clear behavior

Part Number: TPS25751
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750,

Tool/software:

Hi team,

In the TPS25750 TRM, Table 2-9 (0x1A STATUS Register Bit Field Definitions), it is stated that:

“After the dead-battery flag is cleared, the PD controller will send a Hard Reset.”

Based on this, I understand that a Hard Reset is automatically triggered after clearing the Dead Battery mode. Could you please confirm whether this behavior also applies to the TPS25751?

Additionally, is there any way to prevent the Hard Reset from occurring after the Dead Battery mode is cleared when using the TPS25751?

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

teritama

  • Hello Teritama,

    Thank you for reaching out.

A hard reset may occur in a particular situation but does not always occur after clearing dead battery mode.

If there are no Source_capabilities messages being observed after VBUS is present (i.e. the device is acting as a legacy sink due to dead-battery), the sink can send a hard reset in order to reset the Source_capabilities messages.

See highlight section about clearing dead battery flag form TPS25751 TRM and section 6.6.3.2 from PD specification for more details:

    Thank you,
