[FAQ] BQ25600: How do I set the temperature range I desire using the TS pin on BQ2560x?

Part Number: BQ25600

Tool/software:

The BQ2560x TS pin (excluding BQ25600C) is used to monitor the battery temperature via a thermistor with a pull-up and pull-down resistor. As the two resistors represent two unknowns when designing the TS circuit, only two temperature thresholds can be set with these two resistors. Note, however, that the BQ2560x has more than two temperature thresholds. Choose the temperature thresholds according to the application, for example suspending charge outside of the T1-T5 thresholds. Follow the below instructions and make use of the attached calculator to find the TS pull-up and pull-down resistors.

  1. Determine which cold and hot temperatures you want based on the application
  2. Calculate the resistance of the chosen thermistor at the desired temperatures
  3. Choose what TS thresholds you want to bound the BQ2560x by, for example T1 for the lower temperature threshold and T5 for the upper temperature threshold
  4. Solve for the pull-down resistance
  5. Solve for the pull-up resistance
