TPS25730: Power path FET turns on even when the source doesn’t support USB PD

Part Number: TPS25730

Tool/software:

Hi,

We are using the TPS25730 as a sink. It basically works, but the power path FET turns on even when the source doesn’t support USB PD.

Our sink capability is set for ≥2 A at 5 V (10 W), but with a non-PD 5 V source the TPS25730 still enables the path.

Question:

  • Is there a way to detect whether a valid PD contract has been established (with the expected current) before the power path turns on?

  • Can the device be configured to keep the FETs off when only default 5 V (no PD) is available?

Best Regards

Samuel
