Tool/software:
hello,
i am having trouble with my LM5118 design.
its a powersupply for an industrial PC. its ment to give a seady 24V to a PC while the vehicle battery voltage can fluctuate.
VI 18-35V VO 24V 2A
i see the main IC is heating up a little. consuming about 0.5W at 30V a little less at 20V
i have taken some snapshots form the oscilloscope: both at GND and the gates of the both fets.
are these normal waveforms?
is the heat only due to the LDO inside to create the 8V Vcc?
i fear that there is something wrong with the calculations of resistors and capacitors and therefore the ic is generating strage waves on the gates and driving the gates like this consumes more power thus heating the ic-ldo too much.
might be interesting to know but at sync pin there is a perfect 300Khz signal this makes me feel like the internal oscilator is working fine.
at no load i see on the scope that its skipping several cycles i suppose this is becouse the output voltage is stable
your expertise and experience would be greatley appriciated.
